No serious injuries were reported after a car slammed into a house early Sunday morning during a police chase through Marengo, authorities said.
Police said 47-year-old Tracy S. Ayers, of Marengo, lost control of his car just after 2 a.m. and hit a fire hydrant before crashing into the house at 503 Howard Ave. One person inside the house had minor injuries.
Marengo Police Chief Galen Moser said Ayers would not pull over after a traffic violation and a chase ensued through the small town at speeds faster than 80 mph.
Ayers, who was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for possible injuries, was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, eluding and numerous traffic violations, police said.
