Mediacom to launch Oprah Winfrey network Jan. 1

Mediacom plans to take part in the Jan. 1 launch of Opray Winfrey Network.
The cable TV provider will replace Discovery Health on Mediacom Digital Plus with the Oprah Winfrey Network at channel 203 in most Mediacom markets. For Dubuque, Clinton and Davenport, it will be at channel 203.
Discovery Network co-owns the new channel in partenrship with Oprah Winfrey's Harpo production company.
Oprah's All Stars, a four-week series, will kick off the new network beginning Jan. 2. The program will include Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Dr. Mehmet Oz on a single stage to answer viewer questions about health, wealth and mental well-being. The network plans more than 20 original series over the next year.
“Our customers have certainly expressed high interest in Oprah's new endeavor, and we're pleased to deliver OWN as part of Mediacom's Digital Plus lineup,” said Doug Frank, Mediacom regional vice president.
