Devyn Marble gets 5 steals in first NBA start

Jan. 11, 2015 1:10 am
Two weeks ago, Devyn Marble was in the NBA's D-League. Saturday night, he got his first career start in the NBA itself.
The rookie from Iowa played 25 minutes and set career-highs for points (6) and steals (5) in the Orlando Magic's 103-92 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in Portland.
Marble was playing for the Erie BayHawks of the D-League in late December when the Magic sent him down to get some playing time and shake off some rust from an early-season shoulder injury. He played two games in Erie, returned to Orlando, and now appears to be ready to vie for a spot in the team's playing rotation.
Playing time opened for Marble Saturday because forward Tobias Harris (sprained ankle) and guard Evan Fournier (hyperextended knee) both sat out Saturday after suffering injuries during the Magic's game against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday.
It was Marble's ninth appearance for Orlando. He doubled his season scoring output with the six points.
Orlando is 13-27 and has lost six straight games.
Here's a link to a video of Marble taking advantage of a bad Portland pass to streak for an easy dunk.
