Mary R. Daugherty, 83, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion. Friends are welcome to join the family Friday, Feb. 6, at the Cedar Rapids Wedding Chapel,
1513 First Ave. SE, for visitation at 4 p.m., service at 5 p.m. and refreshments at 6 p.m. Her body was cremated; burial will be at a later date.
Survivors include her children, John, Mary, David, Amy and Katharine; grandson, Charles; and granddaughter, Samantha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.H. and Mid Lisenbee; and brothers, Clarence Jr. and Bob Lisenbee.
She was born Mary Rachael Irene Lisenbee on Aug. 17, 1931, and wed Otto Eichacker in June 1950. They had five children together.
Her second husband, Gary Daugherty, and she were married in August 1975, until his death in 2009.
She was a nurse, a teacher, a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and loving aunt.
She studied English in college in the 1970s. She was a born-again Christian and descended from the Native American Cherokee and Ojibway people.
She had many volunteer activities such as the Cub Scouts and helped at Harrison Elementary in the 1990s. In her later years she enjoyed old TV shows such as "Perry Mason" and "Ironside."
Her friends and family loved her and will miss her.
Flowers or donations are welcome.
Mom would like to thank the caregivers who worked with and cared for her during her long illness. Mom was always grateful for visits and phone calls from her loved ones. They were her life.
