A new indoor football and sports facility at the University of Iowa moves forward, after the state Board of Regents approved the plan and budget Thursday.
The regents had no discussion of the plan before approving it during a telephonic meeting.
The project budget of $19.5 million includes more than $14.6 million for the indoor facility itself. The new building will replace “the Bubble,” the 25-year-old indoor football practice facility.
The new facility will be built with athletics department and donor funds. The 102,100 gross square feet facility would be located west of the existing Recreation Building and south of the existing outdoor practice facility.
