William George Roemig, 84, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at his home near Williamsburg.
Bill was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Homestead, Iowa, the son of Edgar H. and Minnie Ida (Lipman) Roemig. Bill graduated from Amana High School in 1950. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Oct. 8, 1970, Bill was united in marriage to Bernice Mae Newkirk at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an auto mechanic for Zimmerman Ford for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop.
He is survived by his twin brother, Charles Roemig of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Wilma Jones of Orlando, Fla.; nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was preceded by his parents; wife, Bernice; and a sister, Doris Burk.
Celebration of Life gathering will be Wednesday, April 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate.
A general memorial fund has been established.
