Strasser, Roger Allen
Roger Allen Strasser was born March 6, 1947, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Marion and Mildred Stahl Strasser. He attended English Valleys Schools. On July 20, 1974, he married Annette K. Moennich at St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead. They lived in the Williamsburg community before moving to Parnell. He was a truck driver for Amana Refrigeration, Dieomatic Trucking and most recently owned and operated Strasser Trucking, Parnell, Iowa. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead. He enjoyed hunting, going to his grandkids' activities and most of all spending time with his family. Roger died suddenly on Sunday, June 26, 2011, in Marengo, at age 64.
He is survived by his wife Annette of Parnell; his children and grandchildren, Kim (Jim) Sweet, Aron, Ashley (Michael Plotz) and Danielle, all of Newhall, Cory (Brooke) Strasser, Zachary and Elizabeth of Blairstown, Brian (Vicki Bender) of Homestead, Brent (Monica) Strasser, Austin and Cody, all of Williamsburg, Brad Strasser and Rebecca Strasser, both of Parnell; two sisters, Patricia Little of North English and Linda (Harry) Huff of Iowa City; a brother-in-law, Milferd (Frankie) Moennich of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father- and mother-in-law, Arnold and Lorena Moennich.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead, with Pastor Terry Small officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Williamsburg.
A memorial fund has been established for St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead, Central Lutheran School, Newhall and the Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg.
