Patricia Ann Weller, 77, of Coralville, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, following a long illness. Funeral services to celebrate Patty's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the North Liberty Methodist Church, with the Rev.
Alecia Williams officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lensing's Oak Hill in Coralville.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
Patty was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Bloomington, Ind., the daughter of Bert and Hazel Kirkpatrick Butcher. She was a graduate of Olds High School and received her RN diploma from Mercy College of Nursing. Patricia had lived in Riverside for many years and moved to Coralville in 1986.
Patty was an RN at the Iowa City VA Health Care System for 25 years, retiring in 2004.
Throughout her illness, Patty always had a positive attitude and loving spirit. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her five children, Cindy (Rick) Knebel of Coralville, Thomas (Angie) Owen of Rogers, Ark., Robert Owen and Timothy (Heidi) Owen, both of Iowa City, and Rebecca Owen of Cedar Rapids; seven siblings, Charlotte King, Betty Maddix and William Butcher, all of Mount Pleasant, Beverly Bartmann of Washington, Pam (Dave) Schinstock of Houghton, Michael (Connie) Butcher of New London and Steve (Cindy) Butcher of North Liberty; sister-in-law, Karen Butcher of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Paige, Edward, Addie, Gabrielle, Hannah, Taylor, Paul and Sam; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Bert and Virginia.
