Patricia Anne Sterner, 81, of Mechanicsville (formerly of Mount Vernon) passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 26, 2018.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 9 a.m. with funeral services directly following at 11 a.m. at Lisbon United Methodist Church.
A memorial fund has been established for Mechanicsville Ambulance. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Patricia was born on June 16, 1937, to Walter and Edna Nelsen in Racine, Wis. She attended Tipton High School and was later united in marriage to John Sterner in 1954. Pat spent many years providing daycare to dozens of children in the Mount Vernon area. To those many children she was known as Patty Ann or Granny Pat and John as Papa. All of those kids had a special place in Pat's heart. She was a member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church and was a former board member of Lisbon Meyers Meadows.
Patricia is survived by her mother, Edna Hartley Nelsen Ehresman; her daughter, Teri (Chuck) Hoy; son, Van (Jeannie) Sterner; sisters, Betty Coonrod and Lola Maher; grandchildren, Jonna Hoy, Mathew (Shannon) Hoy, Kirby Sterner, Grant Sterner and Shelby Sterner; her many nieces and nephews and dozens of daycare children.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, John Sterner; father, Walter Nelsen; four angel babies; brother-in-laws; sister-in-laws; stepfather, Carl Ehresman; and stepbrothers, Donzel and Harold Ehresman.
