Miller, Patricia Ann
Patricia Ann Miller, 77, of Independence, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 25, 2013, at Buchanan County Long Term Care Center in Independence.
Patricia was born July 9, 1936, near Fort Atkinson, Iowa, the daughter of Ernie and Alice (Woldan) Frey. She was a 1955 graduate of Waucoma High School in Waucoma, and on Aug. 11, 1956, she was united in marriage to Freddie A. Miller in Little Turkey, Iowa. The couple made their home in Independence, where Pat was employed as a cook with the Independence Community School District.
Pat loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a devout member of St. John's Catholic Church and a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Freddie A. Miller, Independence; 10 children, Randy (Sue) Miller, Marshalltown, Mark (Julie) Miller, Independence, Nancy (Mike) Manion, Bettendorf, Laurie (Scott) Bell, Dubuque, Terry Miller, Independence, Kevin (Greta) Miller, Boise, Idaho, Sharon (Tom) Worsfold, Cedar Rapids, Angie (Chris) Ryan, Dubuque, Andy Miller, Independence, and Dawn (Dan) Sherman, Davenport; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister; Kathleen Heying, Calmar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Sandy K. Miller in 1959.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Reiff Funeral Home in Independence, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish wake service held at 8 p.m. Friday.
