Patricia Ann "Pat" Hansen, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at First Christian Church in Vinton, with the Rev. Dave Neas officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.

Pat was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Mildred Hayes Register. She was a 1949 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vinton.

On March 31, 1951, Pat was united in marriage with Albert Duane "Bert" Hansen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2010.

Pat worked for Benton County Social Services and then operated a day care out of her home.

She was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Vinton. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading and tending to her houseplants and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her children, Susan (Bill) Foss of Vinton, Sally (Dan) Schulte of Fairfax and Scott (Julie) Hansen of Vinton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial fund has been established.
