VIDEO: Ed Podolak

IOWA CITY -- I spent some time today with Ed Podolak at the University of Iowa Sports Medicine Clinic. I'll have a column later this week on what the last six months have been like for Podolak, who suffered multiple serious injuries when he was struck by a car in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Feb. 22.

Podolak's nurse, by the way, has been Lynn Morris, the mother of Iowa linebacker James Morris. James' father is Greg Morris, the Hawkeye football team's equipment manager. I incorrectly said he was James' stepfather in a Sunday story. He adopted James when the boy was very young. I wanted to set that straight.

The following video is strictly football, a whistle-wetter for this Saturday's season-opener. Podolak will be back in the Iowa radio booth when the Hawkeyes face Tennessee Tech. He will also make his debut as part of the hosting crew for WHO-AM's "Soundoff" postgame call-in show after Iowa games with Jim Zabel and Jon Miller.
