ELIZABETH "LIZ" JANE PETERSON
Monticello
Elizabeth "Liz" Jane Peterson, 71, of Monticello, Iowa, formerly of Madison, Wis., entered the gates of heaven on April 3, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a courageous battle with a brain injury.
Liz was born on March 15, 1947, in Viroqua, Wis. She was the beloved daughter of Thorvald and Opal (Schoville) Peterson. Liz was raised on the family farm in Star Valley, Wis. She then moved to Madison working for General Casualty Insurance for 23 years and in 2002 joined her family in Iowa.
She is best remembered for her deep love for her family with a heart as big as they come. A devoted mom and grandma, her grandchildren always were her world. She enjoyed spending time with them by playing Scrabble, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, and a good game of euchre. All who knew her will miss her hugs and kisses and her quick humor and jokes.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Rob) Edwards of Anamosa, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amanda (Evan) Taylor, Dalton Bierer and Dakota Bierer; two step-grandchildren, Justin (Lonna) Edwards and Ciara Edwards; sisters, Karen (Wayne) Rayner, Martha Peterson and Rebecca (Jeff) Bald; as well as many nieces/nephews.
Her beloved parents greeted her with open arms at heaven's gate.
Service will be held at American Legion, Soldiers Grove, Wis., on Saturday, April 7, at 4 p.m. Pastor Wayne Rayner will officiate. A burial will then take place at the Readstown Cemetery.
