Wright, Craig 'Corey'
Craig “Corey” Wright, 42, of rural Shellsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, from complications caused by a car accident July 26. Visitation and refreshments: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Brooke; mother, Jeri Freese; father, Craig (Jackie) Wright; aunt, Jaci Rozek; loving sisters, Alicia (Chris) Pike and Robin Abney; brother, Scott (Desiree) Abney; nieces and nephew, Celsey and Aaron Pike and Emily Abney; and his loving grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Corey was born Oct. 16, 1970, the son of Craig and Jeri (Fitzgerald) Wright, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He met the love of his life, Brooke, in 1992. They were married at Lake Tahoe in 1996. Corey started his apprenticeship in Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125 in 1996 and was a lifelong member in good standing. He was a proud skilled craftsman who loved his trade.
Corey loved hunting deer, mushrooms and asparagus. He also loved fishing, gardening and taking care of their place. He had been trying for years to get a good apple harvest from his fruit trees and they are loaded this year. Corey had a great sense of humor and a loving nature.
The family would like to thank the staff at the University o f Iowa Hospitals and Clinics 5th floor SICU and 4th floor Palliative care unit. The care he received was exceptional as were all the doctors and nurses.
