SKYLER DARROW
Martelle
Martelle resident Skyler Gene Darrow, 23, died June 17, 2014, after a car accident that occurred north of Mount Vernon on Highway 1.
Skyler was born Feb. 11, 1991, in Anamosa, Iowa, to
Gary Darrow and Kathy Kenney. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2009 and then gained welding endorsements through Kirkwood Community College. Skyler worked for Darrow Construction in Martelle and CEI Pacer in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his fiancee, Katie Barger of Martelle; his father, Gary Darrow of Martelle; his mother, Kathy Kenney of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Tiffiney Hultquist of Martelle, Sara Darrow of Martelle and Tonya Hotchkin of Mount Vernon; a special 4-legged best friend, Narley Marley; many grandparents, a great-grandmother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Skyler held such a passion in everything he did and achieved many goals. He enjoyed challenging people to darts, pool, dice and the occasional game of golf. He was quick to help anyone, was his father's third hand and would always put a smile where it was needed. He always loved to be with family and friends that he always considered family. He would never turn down a Crown Royal drink or a cold bottle of High Life around an occasional campfire with some good laughs.
He has and always will remain in our hearts. Forever, One Love.
A celebration open house will be Tuesday, June 24, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Following will be a reception at Whitey's in Lisbon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Skyler's honor has been established.
Any food donations may be brought to Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
