Cawiezell, Shirley Ann

Shirley Ann Cawiezell, 74, of Tipton, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. 

Shirley was born May 24, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, to Ernie John and Florence Mildred Stock Cawiezell. On Oct. 19, 1952, during her senior year, Shirley was involved in a car accident. She was unable to finish high school. While in school Shirley won many Spelling Bees. She also was an excellent speaker and gave presentations to many organizations. Shirley was very involved with 4-H. Shirley's accident left her paralyzed and she relied on her family for extra love and support. After the accident she enjoyed traveling with her parents and visiting with friends and family.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Florence Cawiezell of Tipton; her sons, Wally (Barb) Cawiezell of Tipton and Kenny (Pat) Cawiezell of Palo; her sister, Ruby (Larry) Ivins of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Dennis Kleppe; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her father in 2002 and her sister, Karen, in 1967.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be Monday morning at 10 at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. 

Memorials will be given to Cedar Manor Nursing Home.
