Eldon J. Miller, 94, of Atkins, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall, with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday before the service. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military rites.

Eldon was born March 25, 1921, in Long Prairie, Minn., to Harry and Mamie (Cole) Miller. He married Marjorie Olson on Feb. 12, 1945, in Verndale, Minn. Eldon and Margie had a Grade A dairy farm in Minnesota until he had back surgery. Later he became a parts man in Minnesota and Tipton, Iowa, where he also was a school bus driver and sold insurance. In 1998, they retired to Atkins to be close to family.

His hobbies were woodworking and playing the violin in a band he shared with his wife. He loved playing games with family and friends.

Eldon will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Margie; sons, Rodney Miller, Buena Park, Calif., Russell (Judy) Miller, Marion, Roger (Terri) Miller, Iowa City, and Roy (Amy) Miller, Puerto Rico; daughters, Janice (Frank) Wagner, Atkins, Joan (Richard) Corum, Lisbon, Jennel (Eldred) Schulte, Fairfax, Joyce (Mark) Christianson, Cedar Rapids, and Jean (Brian) Stallman, Fairfax; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll (Donna) Miller, Bertha, Minn.; sister, Shirley (Wally) Thompson, Staples, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Irene Olson, Juanita Miller and Helen Miller, and brother-in-law, James Olson, all of Staples, Minn.

Preceding Eldon in death were his parents; stepmother, Ann Miller; mother- and father-in-law, Clarence and Anna Olson; sister, Arlene (Wayne) Conley; brothers, Derald and Blayne Miller; and in-laws, Willard Redemske and Daneen Olson.
