UPDATE: Cedar River drowning victim identified
MOUNT VERNON - A man who drowned Friday afternooon in the Cedar River has been identified as Jeffrey Fordyce of Dike.
Fordyce, 68, was found unresponsive after police responded to the report of a man falling into the river south of Mount Vernon at 3:09 p.m. Friday, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
Fordyce died at the scene, the sheriff's office said. The incident is under investigation.
