Andrew D. Hanson, 34, of Marion, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at his home. Private family services will be held. The Rev. Charles Daugherty will officiate. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents, Colleen (Chuck) Sova of Marion; siblings, Megan (Andrew) Sova-Tower of Fairfax, Leah (Jacob) Beckwith of Ankeny and Becky Hanson and Eric Hanson, both of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Anita Frazee of Seattle, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Luke, Elizabeth, Taryn, Jessie and Jackson; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Hanson.
Andy was born on July 11, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a passionate artist whose work was complex and thought provoking. Andy loved sharing stories of family vacations. Among his favorite things to do were reading, watching movies and playing basketball. Andy's greatest love of all was spending time with Luke and Elizabeth. He was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor. Andy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Andy's memory.
