MARY WALLACE
Cedar Rapids
Mary Elizabeth Newman Wallace quietly passed away Jan. 14, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospice. Attending at the time of her passing were her immediate family and a few close friends. Mary was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids and in particular the southeast side which she loved so dearly.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great friend to all those who knew her. She defined the words, grace, manners and elegance, while maintaining a humorous and witty personality.
Mary and her husband, Bill, partnered in one of Cedar Rapids' oldest photography studios (William C. Wallace photographer).
Mary will be sorely missed as the matriarch of our family.
She was born to Ivan and Jennie Newman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Wallace; her parents; brothers, Arthur L. Newman, (Marvel) and Clifford I. Newman, (Eleanor G.); and sister, Eleanor Newman.
She is survived by her son, TJ, his wife, Corinne, and two children– daughter, Sydney, and son, Cole; and a niece and two nephews and their families.
A special thanks to Trish Parkinson, Jamie Draeger and Jacey Rees who were with Mary during her final hours. All three were caregivers who helped Mary during the past two years, and who came to love her. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Luke's Hospice for their extraordinary and loving care of Mary. They were incredible.
At Mary's request, there will be no final service. Please send all condolences to 4624 E. Blue Bird Ave., Orange, Calif. 92869.
Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
