Neil Bruce Ealy, 85, of Belle Plaine, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. Per Neil's request, there will be no visitation or services. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be made at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.
Neil was born Nov. 15, 1932, to Ralph M. and Mable (Gouldy) Ealy in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1950. Following high school, Neil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. In 1958, he married Patricia Nace. To this union five children were born. Following their separation, Neil married Melva Klabzuba Warner. He worked at Funk's G Hybrid for 44 years, retiring in 1994.
Neil enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. In his younger days, he would often be found spending time at Bus' Cabin along the Iowa River frying up catfish, spending time with family and friends, enjoying life. He was a member of Belle Plaine American Legion Post No. 39 for 64 years
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Melva; daughters, Denise Balvin, Lea (Gene) Vileta, both of Belle Plaine, Becky (Jeff) Rieck of Blairstown and Lori (Dave) Stull of Belle Plaine; sons, Kenny (Corena) Ealy of Belle Plaine and Garlan (Chris Nippe) Ealy of Searsboro; grandchildren, Jesse, Terri, Alicia, Bryce Rieck, Ryan, Cody Ealy, Josh, Dillon McGrane, Saige Vileta, Keegan Ealy, Damian Mumby, Keahna, Kelly Dean, Tanner Elliot, Samantha Bazyn and Desiree Stull; great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Allie, Raydon, Hayden and Payton; and many more nieces and nephews.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merlin, George and Ronald "Spiv" Ealy; and sister, Wilma Rupp.
