Francis David (Dave) Hennessey, 86, of Johnston and McAllen, Texas, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th St., Urbandale. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Rd, Urbandale.
Dave was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Rowley, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaVera; three sons, Alan, Ron and Gary; two daughters, Cathy (Larry) Palmer and Kelly; six grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Miller, Cory and Matt Palmer, Thomas Schakel and Elizabeth and Aaron; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kylie Miller; two brothers, Maurice and Larry (Donna); five sisters, Geraldine Welter, Catherine (Gene) DeLucia, Marilyn (Bob) McElligott Sr., Gwen and Mary June (Jim) McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Anna; four brothers, James, Tom, Jack (Maryknoll) and Father Ron; and three sisters, Sister Dorothy, Sister Miriam and Monica Kresbach.
