Preston "Gene" Enlow, 84, of Marshalltown, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Washington, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of hospice. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be presented by Harry C. Harter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 839 and American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post No. 46.
Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.

Preston Eugene Enlow was born on Aug. 26, 1930, on a farm near Savannah, Iowa. He was the son of Lewis and Helen Ione (Richardson) Enlow. Gene attended country school in rural Savannah, Iowa. Gene honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 1952 until January 1954. On Jan. 15, 1960, Gene was united in marriage to Ruth Grosvenor and they later divorced. He married Gladys Holderness and they divorced. He then married Valerie Hartwell. She passed in 2012.
Gene worked at Fisher Controls until his retirement in 1992, after 22 years of service. Gene was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 312, the American Legion and UAW No. 893. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and the outdoors in general.
Left to cherish Gene's memory are his children, Gerald Dean Enlow and Harold Enlow, both of Washington, Iowa; Gloria (Willie) Kriegel of State Center; Preston Enlow of Washington, Iowa; Lisa Stabenow of Marshalltown; Tony Stabenow of Miami, Fla.; and Todd Stabenow of Marshalltown; stepchildren, Luanne, Sandy, Alton and Shawn; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
In death, Gene rejoins his parents, Lewis and Helen; wife, Valarie; great-granddaughter, Zoey; siblings, Bob and Florence; and daughter, June Putman.
