Helen L. Bruner, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Helen was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, to Albert and Helen (Holmes) Mastin. She married Harold N. Bruner in Iowa City. Helen worked for 14 years as a purchasing agent at Collins Radio.
Helen was baptized Methodist by her
uncle, Pastor Fred Mastin. As a girl, she was a very talented athlete, excelling in gymnastics, and a straight-A student. She carried her love of sports over into her adult life. She was an avid golfer and loved Iowa football (Go Hawkeyes!). She also enjoyed attending her grandkids' sporting events.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Snetzler and Patricia Reindl, and daughter-in-law, Paula Bruner, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Joel (Kim) Snetzler, Jeff (Denise) Fischer, Holly (Matt) Moppin, Heidi (Charles) Brown and Shawn (Tammy) Bruner; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua and John Snetzler, Ashley and Brandon Brown, Ronnie and Kristen Moppin, Jacob, Alysha, Macen and Cody Bruner; and one great-great-grandson, Braidyn Bruner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 2003; her parents; son, Gerald Bruner; grandson, Mark Bruner; son-in-law, Jim Snetzler; two sisters, Ruthie and Alberta; and a brother, Al.
