Koch, Frances Rose Kolek Reyhons

Frances Rose Kolek Reyhons Koch, 94, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. Funeral service: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Private family burial: Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving Frances are her husband, Dr. Paul Koch DDS, Mount Vernon; two daughters, Norma (Thomas) Abbott, Iowa City, and Marcia (Bob) Lehr, Lisbon; and a son, Roger (Lou Ann) Reyhons, Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren, Kevin and Craig Westfall, Todd Abbott, Steve, Marc, Scott and Jon Reyhons, and Tami Sanders; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter on the way. Also surviving Fran are her four stepgrandchildren, Frank, Tim and Tony Koch and Barb Dos.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Krob Kolek; husband, Emil, two grandsons, Gary Lehr and Robert Dean Westfall; a sister and five brothers.
Frances was born Sept. 9, 1915, on a farm southeast of Lisbon. She attended the Solon Stone Academy country school. She married Emil Reyhons in 1935. He died in 1988. She married Dr. Paul Koch DDS on March 30, 1992. Fran was co-owner and bookkeeper for her husband in his Standard Oil tank wagon business. She was most proud of her job as bookkeeper for the city of Mount Vernon.
Frances was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and along with Emil, they coordinated the church's Fall Festival for many years. She was a member of the Mount Vernon PTA, Mount Vernon Music Association, and was a Girl Scout leader. Fran was past president of the Mount Vernon American Legion Auxiliary and past president of the Linn County American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of Hillcrest Country Club of Mount Vernon and member of the Ladies Golf Association.
Memorials in Fran's honor may be donated to the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Volunteer Ambulance Fund.
