Iowa high school girls’ basketball rankings: Iowa City schools each in top 3

Iowa City might be the heart of girls' basketball in the state this year.
Iowa City Regina has been ranked No. 1 in Class 2A all season, Iowa City High moved up to No. 2 in 5A last week, and now Iowa City West is third in 5A following a 74-73 OT loss to City High on Tuesday, coupled with losses from previous No. 3 Cedar Falls (City High, 62-40) and then-No. 4 Waukee (Valley, 67-51).
All five No. 1s remained the same in the latest Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rankings, with Indianola (5A), Pella (4A), Pocahontas Area (3A) and Springville (1A) joining Regina on top.
Preseason No. 1 Davenport North climbed back into the 5A top five at No. 4.
In the area, Cedar Rapids Xavier joined the 4A rankings at No. 11 after a win over Linn-Mar, which fell two spots to 13th in 5A. Cedar Rapids Washington fell out of the 5A poll and Montezuma dropped from the 2A rankings.
4A No. 2 Marion (7-0) and 3A No. 5 Center Point-Urbana (7-0) meet Friday in a Wamac West showdown at Marion.
