Cook, Margaret Ellen

Margaret Ellen Cook, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died April 14, 2013, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Craig Bex. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Burial: 2 p.m., God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.

Margaret was born to Albert Earl Lamm and Elizabeth Kathryn Lamm (Henkel) on Jan. 21, 1927, in Dumont, where she spent her childhood years. She graduated from Dumont Consolidated Schools in 1944 and from Upper Iowa University, with a two-year teaching degree, in 1946. Margaret married Gearald Cook on Aug. 22, 1953. They lived in the West Union area and she taught elementary school for a number of years before moving to Cedar Rapids.

Margaret is survived by her children, Larry, Paul, Gloria and Steven; and grandson, Oliver; as well as sisters, Mildred and Miriam.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gearald; brother, Lawrence; her sisters, Mary Catherine and Theresa; and her parents.

She had many friends in the community as well as at Heritage Nursing, Evergreen Estates and the many area churches that she loved to attend and was active in until her health made that impractical.
