DeCook, Donald Vayle
Donald Vayle DeCook, 43, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Dyersville, Iowa.
Donnie graduated from Postville High School and attended University of Northern Iowa. For many years, Don worked for Bertch Cabinets in Waterloo, Custom Counters & Closets and most recently for John Deere. Don enjoyed golfing, fishing and especially deer hunting with his dad. He also enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes and was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. Donnie especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Don is survived by his parents, Charles and Gloria DeCook; three sisters, Shirley (Dan) Spoden, JoAnn (Richard Navarrete) Florez and Rhonda (Michael) Brandt; aunt, Ginger (Robert) Kruse; nieces and nephews, Jessica and Danele Spoden, Richard Florez Jr., Alyssa and Alexandria Florez, Brooke Ruckdaschel, Mykaela and Jordan Brandt, and Shawn and Kerra Kruse; and longtime companion, Donna Jones and her children, Karine (Tony) Schager, Lindy, Eric and Jordan, and grandchildren, Chance and Callie Schager.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jennie Carpenter Couser and Fred DeCook and Donald and Dorothy Shippy-Gage.
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. First, Guttenberg, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services Thursday at church. Funeral service will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Shane Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Wadena Cemetery in Wadena.

In lieu of all types of sympathy, a memorial has been established in Donnie's name.
