Cook, Suzie R. Schmidt
Suzie R. Schmidt Cook, 42, of Sandy Creek, N.Y., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in her home. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's and St. Paul's Cemetery near Watkins. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW, where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary.
Susan was born March 14, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Benton Community High School in Van Horne in 1985 and from Mount Mercy College in 1989 with a B.A. degree in management and marketing. Susan married Raymond R. Cook on March 27, 1993. She was employed by Cadaret, Grant & Co. in Syracuse as an assistant vice president for marketing for the past 11 years. She was also employed by Finley Jewelry for several years. Susan was a member of Christ Our Light Parish in Pulaski.
Suzie is survived by her husband, Ray; a daughter, Sydney Joyce; mother, Katie Schmidt of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Tim (Jean) Schmidt of Van Horne, Tom (Janelle) Schmidt of Norway and Regis (Debbie) Schmidt of Wakins; three sisters, Ellen (Herb) Schulte of Watkins, Joanne (Steve) Radeke of Keystone and Peg (Matt) Sprengeler of Walford; two brothers-in-law, Karl (April) Cook of Martville, N.Y., and Darin (Diane) Cook of Springfield, Mass.; one sister-in-law, Marie (Al) Weaver of Martville, N.Y.; and her father-in-law, Willis Cook of Martville, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allen “Knute” Schmidt in 1980; mother-in-law, Joyce Cook in 2008; maternal grandparents, James and Nellie Ryan; and her paternal grandparents, William and Mary Schmidt.
