Crist, Sharon
Sharon Crist, 70, of Coralville, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Coralville United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the church. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until services. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Bethel Cemetery, rural Louisa County near Letts. Following the graveside services a reception for family and friends will be held at the Letts United Methodist Church.
Sharon Ernestine Cochran was born March 6, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Pauline (Jordan) Crist. Following graduation from high school in Des Moines, she attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with her nursing degree. She was united in marriage to Harry Crist on March 11, 1961, in Des Moines. For many years the couple lived in Columbus Junction, where they raised their family. In 1986, they moved to Coralville, where at this time, Sharon worked as a registered nurse in special care nurseries at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, retiring in 2001.
Sharon was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church. In the past she was active in 4-H, Little League Baseball, the Federated Club and TTT.
Her family includes her husband, Harry; their children, Todd Crist (Janelle) of Germantown, Tenn., Amy M. Crist of Coralville, Seth S. Crist (Debra Williams) of Des Moines, Pauline A. Crist of Iowa City and Elijah P. Crist (Leah) of Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren, Jenna, Stephanie, Logan and Keegan Crist; and her brother, Jerry Cochran (Sally) of Hoboken, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sharon's memory to the Coralville United Methodist Church or March of Dimes.
