Plowman, Gary Lee
Gary Lee Plowman, 69, of 130 First Ave. West, Walford, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Edgewood Family Fellowship by the Rev. Mark Larson with military honors presented by the American Legion. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Gary is survived by his wife, Barb; two sons, Rob (Andrea) of Olathe, Kan. and Shane (Lisa) of Westminster, Colo.; five grandchildren, Ashley (Drew) Talmage, Brock Goddard, Dakota Plowman, Mackenzie Plowman and Christian Plowman; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hank; two sisters, Bev Street of Letts and Esther Riggs of Moline, Ill.; two brothers, Hap Plowman of Glen Burnie, Md. and Joe Plowman of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents; a sister, Liz Tomkins; and two brothers, Nelson and Larry Plowman preceded him in death.
Gary was born June 4, 1944, in Letts, the son of Harlan and Erma Lamb Plowman and married Barbara Ann Brokofsky on Nov. 22, 1969 in Des Moines. He was the vice president of service for Amana Refrigeration where he had been employed for 33 years. Gary was an Army veteran.
Gary loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved being active and involved both at work and at the church where he spent many hours making a difference.
Memorials may be directed to Edgewood Family Fellowship church.
