Paula Maria Kamerling, 66, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, surrounded by her daughters. A ceremony celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Sheila (Mark) Osborne of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Suzi Kamerling of Cedar Rapids and Sally (Matt) Kortuem of Madison Lake, Minn.; sister, Jolene (Alan) Craig of Maquoketa; grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan, Lauren, Kyle, Jocelyn, Luke, Mackenzie and Bo; niece, Addy; nephew, Ches; and special friends, Donna and Judith.
Born on Nov. 3, 1949, to Herbert and Lois (Kruse) Ingwersen, Paula and her family moved to Mechanicsville where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She acquired a cosmetology license, an associate degree from Kirkwood Community College, and raised three beautiful daughters.
Paula was an active member of Al-Anon, volunteered for Heart of Iowa, enjoyed her Centering Prayer at Prariewoods community and always looked fabulous. When not walking in the woods, kayaking and generally enjoying nature, she and a group of Elvis impersonator fans, laughed and enjoyed great times.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, Steven Ingwersen.
