BENSENVILLE, Ill. - Jiri Fronk scored with 4:50 remaining to help give the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 5-3 come-from-behind victory Friday night over the Chicago Steel.
Fronk's team-leading sixth goal of the season improved Cedar Rapids to 8-1-0, 16 points, first in the East Division of the United States Hockey League. The RoughRiders play Saturday night at Green Bay.
Chicago grabbed a 2-0 lead after a period on goals from Ryan Blankemeyer and Connor Murphy. The Riders scored three times in the second to take a 3-2 edge, with goals from Andrew Oglevie, Ross Colton (on the power play) and Adam Gaudette.
But the Steel tied it early in the third period, leading to Fronk's heroics. Gaudette scored into the empty net with one second left for the final margin.
Ben Blacker made 34 saves to improve his goaltending record to 7-1.
