H. Ernest (Ernie) Lund, 86, of Iowa City, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, in Lantern Park Rehab & Nursing Home, following a short illness. At Ernie's request, cremation services will be provided through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with a private ceremony for his family at a later date.

Human race since Sept. 9, 1928. Graduate of Cedar Falls, Iowa, high school. About two years of college. Iowa State Guard. Iowa Civil Air Patrol. U.S. Navy. Masonic Lodge 50-year member. University of Iowa employee from 1948 to 1965. Printer for 21 years at University of Iowa. Member of State County & Municipal Employee Union for 17 years. Member of American Federation of Musicians Union for 10 years. Mayor of Riverside, Iowa. Riverside Independent School Board member. Washington County assessor from 1965 to 1993. Iowa State Assessors Association from 1965 to 1993. International Association of Assessing Officers from 1966 to 1993. Income tax and property taxpayer from (1940-1993 plus). Brother to Bob (Virginia) and Art. Husband to Frances A. (Good) Lund. Married Jan. 15, 1949. Father since 1949 to seven children: Steven (1949-2011) (Kathy) Lund of San Diego, Calif., Dale (1953-1965) Lund, Chryse (Bob) Nelsen of West Branch, Frank (Bev) Lund of Orion, Ill., Barbara (John) Merline of Eagle River, Wis., Jeanne Lund of Iowa City and Mary (Mike) Knerr of Sunrise Beach, Mo.. Grandfather to eight. Great-grandfather to 11.
