JYLL JOAN ANDREW
Marion
Jyll Joan Andrew, 74, of Marion, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jyll is survived by her brother, Gary Michael Andrew; sister, Dee Machacek; cousin, Jack (Connie); nieces, Heather, Heidi and Katherine; nephew, Bryan; and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Zona Andrew; brother, Stephen; and nephew, John Patrick.
Jyll grew up in Minnesota and was the "big sister" we all dream of. Special times at our cousin Jack's farm with swimming and farming were memories never forgotten. Jyll and Jack remained close all their lives. Jyll graduated from Windom High School with honors. She was a secretary for Allis Chalmers in Cedar Rapids, dabbled in writing and poetry and struggled for many years to cope with mental illness while being productive. Jyll loved country music and enjoyed attending concerts. Her life was filled with people helping her deal with her mental illness, most of whom loved her spirit and bravery. The Abbe staff were/are family and provided love, support and empathy to her always.
To my sister Jyll: The bond that joined us lay deeper than outward things; the rivers of our souls spring from the same well! You and I are tied together by years of misunderstandings, cross words, iced silences, laughter, hugs, tenderness and love. All those strands are twisted into a knot that nothing will ever, ever break.
