Richard "Rhino" Jensen, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Brosh Chapel.
Richard was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Richard B. and Marjorie H. (Stahle) Jensen. He played football for Washington High School (where he earned all-state and all-conference) and Coe College, where he earned the nickname "Rhino." He also coached and played many sports throughout his lifetime. He married Marsha L. Hagerman on May 21, 1988, in Cedar Rapids.
Throughout the years Rhino worked at several area car dealerships. Rick was a kind-hearted man who could melt your heart with his smile. He loved playing euchre and going to the casino. He was an avid Hawkeye and Braves fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rhino is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughters, Sabrina (David) Brown and Heidi (Pat) Liegl; son, Adam (Dina) Jensen; stepdaughters, Lisa (Troy) Goodfellow-Mertens and Kathleen (Dan) Sturm; grandchildren, Claire, Jacob, Aimee, Wyatt, Danielle and Ben; a sister, Dianna Jensen; and many cousins.
Rhino was preceded in death by his parents.
