New Home For KCRG
Loomis Brothers construction workers on October 31, 1973 erect foundation wall forms on the corner of Second Avenue and Fifth Street SE in Cedar Rapids during construction of the new KCRG (TV-9, AM-1600 Radio) studios facility. KCRG had been located in the Miller Building at 104 First Street SW since 1947. Work began to demolish and clear existing buildings at the construction site on July 16, 1973, including the former ACME Super Service Station, Coffee Den, Kenny's Appliance Store and the People's Finance Company. The new facility would open in April, 1975.The Palmer Building is visible in the background.
