Ruth Lahey, 95, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 Tuesday morning, Jan. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home has been entrusted with Ruth's services.

Surviving are a sister, June Reiter, Monticello; nieces and nephews, Jim (Colleen) Waldron, Pamela (Frank) Johnson, Vicki (Bob) McCommons, John Reade, Jan (Bob) Null, Douglas (Rachele) Rickels, Julie (Tom) Dunne and Jill Cheney; stepnephews and stepnieces, Gene Reiter, David Reiter, Dan Reiter, Jenny Flack and Julie Reynolds; 14 great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marcus, in 1995; siblings, Lenora "Beck" Waldron, Wilma Fitzsimmons, Mary Lou Rickels, Jean Schemmel, Joan Reade, Robert Hein and Margaret Hein; and a niece, Sue Ann Schemmel.
Ruth Naomi Hein was born April 10, 1921, in Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret Allen Hein. Ruth graduated from Monticello Community Schools with the Class of 1939. Ruth Hein and Marcus Lahey were married April 10, 1946, in Anamosa. The couple made their home in Monticello. Ruth worked at Highway Market Grocery Store, later Family Foods; the Wagon Wheel Supper Club and Gambles Hardware Store.
