Webber, Marilyn
Marilyn Webber, 91, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion. Per her wishes, there will be no service or visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion.
Survivors include four daughters, Amber Siepmann of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Wanda Crombie of Iowa City, Mardella (Guy) Stoecker of Cedar Rapids and Marsha Hunter of Maquoketa; brothers, Gary (Ann) Siddell of Coggon and Paul (Claudia) Siddell of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters, Vivien Benter of Monticello, Hazel Hayslett of Summerfield, Fla., Sibyl (Dan) Dever of Wilmington, N.C., and Ann (John) Zupanc of Brecksville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jon (Kara) Siepmann, Allie Stoecker, Tracie (Blake) Harms and Eric (Sarah) Lamb; and three great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was born April 8, 1920, at the family home in Manchester, the daughter of Ward and Edith (Ives) Siddell. She graduated from Oneida High School in 1938. On March 21, 1941, she married Walter Webber. While Walter served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, Marilyn worked and began raising their family. She worked for Rockwell Collins for eight years, but spent most of her life as a busy homemaker and community volunteer.
Volunteering was very important to Marilyn. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years, currently a member of Post 298. She served countless volunteer hours for the auxiliary. For 24 years, Marilyn traveled every week to the veterans hospital in Iowa City and logged 8,500 volunteer hours.
She leaves behind her loving caregivers, Eric and Sarah Lamb.
Marilyn will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; daughter, Rochelle Lamb; brothers, Robert Ward Siddell and Bud Siddell; sister and brother-in-law, Crystal and Clayton Evans; son-in-law, Rodney Crombie; and brothers-in-law, Jim Hayslett and Irvin Benter.
Memorials for Marilyn are suggested to the Marion First United Methodist Church.
