Your guide to summer swimming in the Corridor

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids municipal pool swimming season begins Memorial Day weekend with preseason swimming at Noelridge Aquatic Center, 1248 42nd St. NE, Saturday through Monday, May 27-29.
Lap swims are offered from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. each day and open swims from 1 to 6 p.m. May 27-28 and 1 to 5 p.m. on May 29 — Memorial Day.
A kickoff swim takes place at all outdoor municipal pools — Bever, Cherry Hill, Ellis, Jones and Noelridge — on Friday, June 2, with lap swims from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and open swims from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Regular season swimming begins at all pools on Saturday, June 3.
Daily schedules for regular season swimming vary by pool. For a full list of hours at each facility, go to cedar-rapids.org. Under the 'For Residents' tab, follow the links to 'Parks and Recreation' and 'Municipal Pools.'
In addition to the pools, the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department turned on the splash pads in parks throughout the city on Sunday.
Splash pads are located at Cedar Valley Park, Cleveland Park, Daniels Park, Hayes Park, Hidder Park, Jacolyn Park, Noelridge Park, Redmond Park, Time Check Park and Twin Pines Park. The spray features are activated when a hand is run across the sensor. The water is turned on at 10 a.m. each day and turned off at 8 p.m.
