Ernest H. Foss Jr., 69, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids surrounded by family. A visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Ernest H. Foss Jr. was born on April 16, 1948, the son of Ernest H. Sr. and Dorothy (Schunamen) Foss. He worked at Kirkwood Community College for several years. He enjoyed disc golfing, going to grandchildren's activities, helping anyone who needed help, liked to joke with people, and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Riley Marie; and brother, Al Foss.
Left to cherish Ernest's memories are his wife, Georgia Foss of Mount Vernon; two children, Ernest (Stacie) Foss III of Harlan and Robert "Bob" (Michelle) Foss of Swisher; and three grandchildren, Joseph Foss, Austin Foss and Nick Foss.
