Gladys Arlene Rodgers was born March 10, 1928, near Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Anna (Litwiller) Stutzman. She graduated from Wellman High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Carl William Rodgers on March 12, 1948, in Wellman. She was a tour guide in the Amana Colonies for many years. She resided in the Wellman and Parnell communities. Gladys enjoyed cooking, singing in choirs, knitting, walking, traveling and visiting with her family. Gladys died Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 90 years.
She is survived by 10 children, Brooke Rodgers of Goochland, Va., Larry Rodgers of Maysville, W.Va., Sara Potter of Garland, Texas, Scott Rodgers of Buckhannon, W.Va., Jolene Eicken of Virginia, Rick Rodgers of Parnell, Jeffery Rodgers of Keosauqua, Gina Maas of North Liberty, and Elizabeth Rodgers and Melissa Mungai, both of Portland, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eldora Wood of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Russell Stutzman.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. immediately following the visitation on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
