William L. Garringer, 76, of Williamsburg, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City. Private family services will be held at Yankee Point Cemetery, Parnell, at a later date. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to Mercy Hospital Hospice Program, Iowa City.
He is survived by his wife, Darlyn of Williamsburg; three sons, Keith (Patty) of Williamsburg, Karey (Judy) of Iowa City and Kevin (Kay) of Williamsburg; a daughter, Karmen (Kollin) Munson of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Jeanne) of Williamsburg; a sister, Betty Van Dee of Vining; a brother-in-law, Ramon Newkirk (Mary) of Riverside; and a sister-in-law, Claudia Doehrmann (Lloyd) of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Esta Brown Garringer; and five brothers, Howard Brown and Keith, Orville, Ralph and Vernon Garringer.
