Becicka, Pauline Rose
Pauline Rose Becicka, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with Deacon Jim Berger presiding. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Pauline was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Ely, the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Mrstik) Mackey. She married Joseph Becicka on Dec. 4, 1942, at St. Patrick's Rectory. She worked at Armstrong's for many years as well as Grant Early Childhood Center.
She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, sewing, listening to music and most importantly spending time with her family.
Pauline is survived by her children, Bonnie Sherman, Brenda (Terry) Braaten and Al (Jodi) Becicka; six grandchildren, Jessica Sherman and Michelle (Mark) Campbell, Brad Plagmann, Morgan, Rilea and Karigan Becicka; her sister, Bee (Bill) Leidich; her brother, David (Ronnie) Mackey; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Mackey.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Ruth Kinzey and Phyllis Mackey; a brother, Robert Mackey; and a special nephew, Carl Davis.
Memorials may be directed to either Hospice of Mercy or the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Mercy, especially Cindy, for all their love and care for Pauline over the past few months.
Pauline was a very kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all.
