Leona Doris Zundel, 75, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her fiance, Bob Lana of Marion; children, Lu Zundel of Minneapolis, Minn., LuAnn (Randy) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., Laurie Toll (Rod Ackerman) of Cedar Rapids and Bonnie (Mike) Turnage of Pineville, La.; three stepchildren, Laura (John) Pasternak of Hawaii, Tim (Robyn) Lana of Ohio and Tom Lana of Ohio; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene Robinson of Cedar Rapids, Lila (Gene) Sexton of South Dakota, Vi Klein of Marion, Al (Rita) Moldrem of South Dakota, Ed Moldrem of California and Jim Moldrem of South Dakota; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two grandsons, Austin Zundel and Shane Zundel.
Leona was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Plankington, S.D., the daughter of Leon and Hilda (Molde) Moldrem. She married LuVerne B. Zundel on Aug. 29, 1954. LuVerne passed away in 2001. Leona was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. She enjoyed trips to the casino, time spent with family and friends and had wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for the last five years.
A memorial fund has been established in Leona's memory.
