L. Bernice Augustine, 81, longtime resident of Coralville, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, peacefully in her sleep. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Loretta Bernice Bradford was born March 25, 1936, in Dora, N.M., the daughter of J.D. and Callie B. (Gresham) Bradford. She was united in marriage to James E. Augustine on Nov. 3, 1955, in Granby, Mo. The couple moved to Coralville with their family in 1960, where she had continued to reside. In addition to raising four children, caring for their home and family, she worked for more than 20 years at Oral B, retiring in 1969.

Her family, which was her world, includes her son and his wife, James and Shirley Augustine; grandchildren, Kim Weiermann (Cory), Anna Augustine (Chad Gatewood), Michael Augustine (Ashley), Elizabeth Weiermann (Joe) and Samantha Augustine (Jeff Sherman); great-grandchildren, Dakota, Makayla, Kain, Ty, Colton, Wyatt, Baylor, Lincoln, Emmett, Millie and Miles; and Bernice's siblings, Stanley Bradford (Kim), Roy Lee Bradford (Mary Jane), Juanice Morgan (Jim) and Mary Lou Arnold (Reverend James).

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughters, Janet Nelson, Sherry Bremner and Diane Berg; grandson, Benjamin Augustine; and son-in-law, Thomas Berg.
