Joanne Marie Gorsh, 75, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Certified Celebrant Jim Parton will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joanne is survived by her three daughters, Kim Gorsh of Cedar Rapids, Kellee (Bob Netolicky) Gorsh of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Debbie (Dale) Dilts of Cedar Rapids; her ex-husband and good friend, Frederick Gorsh Jr.; three grandchildren, Shelby, Morgan and Brandon; a sister, Anna Mae Lang of Cedar Rapids; and a niece, Roxanne (Clark) Weber.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Bobby Lang.
Joanne Marie Topinka was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Zach Topinka. She was a 1956 graduate of McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. On Sept. 26, 1959, Joanne and Frederick Gorsh Jr. were united in marriage; the couple later separated, but remained great friends.
Joanne worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for more than 20 years.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and sister. She also enjoyed going antiquing and traveling to the casinos.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, Ba-bi, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
