David James Heitt, 55, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice of Mercy. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Jim Parton. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom until service time.
David was born Sept. 12, 1960, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Dale and Kathryn Heitt of Maquoketa and Edwin and Francis Reid of Onslow.
He is survived by his parents, James D. (Tammy) Heitt of Cedar Rapids and Mary (Peter) Reid Heitt-Doyle of Bella Vista, Ark.; two brothers, Martin R. Heitt and Jeffrey D. Heitt of Cedar Rapids; nephew, Briton Heitt and wife Kay, children Brielle and Robby; and nephew, Morgan Heitt, all of Norman, Okla.
Dave grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington High School. He worked for Non-Profit Services Inc. for many years. He loved nature and enjoyed camping and fishing.
David's body was cremated and laid to rest in Clay Cemetery, Onslow.
