GEFFREY GALLOWAY
Mechanicsville
Geffrey E. Galloway, 63, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, in his Mechanicsville home. An open house for Geff will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, with military rites.
Surviving Geff are his children, Travis (Jodi) of Mechanicsville, Beth (Jim) Galloway of Olin, Geff (Rose) of Palo and Phil (Nicky) of Mechanicsville; many grandchildren; eight brothers, Earl, Jerry, Don, Larry, Roger, Al, Russ and Jim; five sisters, Darlene, Rhea, Barb, Marcia and Suz; and a special friend, Shannon.
Preceding Geff in death were his wife, Hilma; a sister, Delores; and a brother, Dwain.
Geff was born at Grand Mound, the son of Harold and Earline Riggs Galloway. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Geff married Hilma Jostad in November 1971, in Preston. He started working at a young age driving truck and hauling milk with his father, driving over the road and was still driving and hauling grain for the local farmers.
He loved to camp, boat, fish and hunt and no family car or truck ever went to the shop with Geff around. Once he made a friend, he stayed friends forever and had many stories to share, especially about the adventures with his lifelong friend, Curly. He never missed watching the Cubs play. Most of all, Geff wouldn't want anyone to grieve. He would want his family and friends to share memories of watching the games and the races.
Memorials in Geff's honor may be sent to Bridge Bank/Geff Galloway Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 129, Mechanicsville, IA 52306.
