Harris, Diane
Diane Harris, 62, of Palo, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by the Rev. Mark Ressler. A vigil service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.
Diane is survived by three children, Jim (Jenny) Harris of Cedar Rapids, Jyl (Chad) Morgan of Palo and John (Janette) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Mackenzie, Madelynn, Jay, John, Delaney, Brooklynne and Macksyn; mother, Rose Matus of Palo; mother-in-law, Kathryn Harris of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Dan (Carol) Matus of Marion and Bill (Jan) Matus of Atkins; sister-in-law, Linda (Larry) McVay of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, who died in 2012; father, Edward Matus; brother, Guy Matus; sister-in-law, Sharon Jochim; and brother-in-law, Rick Jochim.
Diane was born April 13, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Krizek) Matus. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1969. Diane married Jim Harris on Aug. 22, 1970, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Diane enjoyed reading, doing crosswords and spending time in Minnesota with Jim on their pontoon. She also loved spending time outside doing yard work. Diane was a very generous grandma and loved spoiling her grandchildren with gifts. She had a very special relationship with her grandmother, mother and daughter whom she loved very much.
